The right vehicles and equipment keep your business productive, but paying cash ties up working capital you could use elsewhere. Asset finance spreads the cost over the useful life of the equipment, and in most cases the asset itself is the security, so you don’t need to offer property.
Peak Capital arranges vehicle and equipment finance across banks, non-banks and specialist asset lenders, for new and used assets, from dealers and, in many cases, private sales.
Types of finance
Chattel mortgage
The most common option for businesses. You own the asset from day one, make regular repayments, and the lender holds a mortgage over it. You may be able to claim GST, interest and depreciation.
Lease
You pay to use the asset for an agreed term without owning it, with a fixed monthly payment.
Balloon or residual
Lower your regular repayments by deferring part of the cost to the end of the term.

Common questions
Do I pay for your service?
Yes. There is an engagement fee paid when you select our services, and a success fee paid on successful completion of your loan funding. We explain all fees upfront before you proceed.
Can I finance used equipment or a private sale?
Often, yes. Lenders will want to verify the seller and may need a valuation, but many fund used and privately sold assets.
Do I need property as security?
Usually not. In most cases the vehicle or equipment is the security, registered on the PPSR.
Chattel mortgage or lease: which is better?
It depends on your tax position and whether you want to own the asset. A chattel mortgage gives you ownership from day one, while a lease can suit assets you upgrade regularly. Your accountant can advise on the tax side.
